What is Conscious Discipline Curriculum?

Conscious Discipline Curriculum is a comprehensive school-wide program designed to create safe, positive learning climates in homes and schools.

Developed by Dr. Becky Bailey, a clinical psychologist, Conscious Discipline emphasizes cooperation, responsibility, and self-control in all aspects of life. Conscious Discipline Curriculum

What is Conscious Discipline?

Conscious Discipline is an approach that focuses on developing socially and emotionally responsible behavior in children.

Through real-life conflict and challenging classroom situations, Conscious Discipline helps children learn to manage their anger, become more assertive and cooperative, and develop empathy and impulse control.

The program also builds self-esteem by having children take on responsibilities in the classroom and emphasizes conscious awareness in adults, which helps to foster a reflective and thinking mind.

Conscious Discipline focuses on four key components:

  • Understanding how our emotions impact our behavior
  • Shifting discipline to become an opportunity to learn new skills
  • Creating a culture of compassion and building connections with others
  • Problem solving with social-emotional learning (SEL)

How Does Conscious Discipline Benefit Children?

Conscious Discipline is a school-wide approach to learning that focuses on building a connection between students and adults. It equips both adults and children with the skills needed to handle life’s challenges, such as learning, communicating effectively, and respecting others.

Through Conscious Discipline, adults create a safe, supportive, and caring school and classroom environment where everyone feels respected and valued. By providing children with the necessary skills to succeed, Conscious Discipline encourages a positive and peaceful learning environment.
